Referring Patients
Referrals from General Practitioners, Medical Specialists and Allied Health Professionals are accepted. If your referral is urgent, please outline this in your referral letter or call us on (02) 9098 9191 as we are always happy to accommodate patients needing urgent reviews.
Referrals may be: faxed to (02) 8365 8900 or emailed to reception@drbalendra.com.
Dr Balendra is also happy to receive referrals via HealthLink (EDI: balendra) or Medical Objects.
In your referral, we ask that you kindly outline the patient’s history, injury, symptoms and any other relevant information. Ideally the patient would have also had recent imaging performed (generally within three months). For assessment of arthritic or bony injuries, a plain x-ray is suitable. Other imaging modalities such as MRI or CT scan may be indicated in some situations, particularly MRI in evaluating soft tissue injuries (eg ACL or meniscal tears). Ultrasounds are rarely useful in assessing orthopaedic injuries. If you are unsure of what investigations to order for a patient, please do not hesitate to contact us on (02) 9098 9191. Alternatively, upon receipt of your referral we are happy to refer patients for imaging in preparation for their appointment.
Dr Balendra sees patients covered by private health insurance and WorkCover. We also welcome patients without private health insurance, either simply for an opinion or with a view to undertaking surgery in a private hospital if they are able to self-fund their operation.
